You have downloaded one piece completely and have 2MB out of the second piece. But we don't include that in the "done" count because we don't know if the piece will pass the validation.
Note: If you are running Zone Alarm version 5 in particular , you might try disabling or uninstalling it and rebooting. Many users have reported problems with ZA breaking BitTorrent clients. Additional note: As a general rule, a lot of home-routers can only handle a total number of connections open at any one time. Your only solution really is the above: reduce the number of possible connections unless you can afford to shell out on an expensive corporate router that is!
If it's your router that is dying and not your network card have a look at the bad routers page. This normally happens when your are using other browsers in Windows OS i. Safari, Opera or Firefox. Download the latest version available. If it still does not work, we suggest using a different browser instead. Note: This is just a work around, but in doing these steps and you still experience some problems, the best solution is to browse content from the Vuze client and not from your browser.
If web browsing or e-mail usage seems slow while Vuze is active, or Vuze's speed constantly fluctuates going up and down, you may try to correct that by limiting Vuze's speed.
In general, Vuze uses as much internet bandwidth that you let it have. It downloads and uploads as fast as possible. If Vuze takes over all your upload bandwidth, then even the web browsing gets slow as even your outgoing requests for web pages get slowed down. It also slows down your Vuze downloads, as data arrival messages and requests for new data also get stuck in the outgoing packet queue. In most cases, you should not limit the download speed. You may limit it somewhat to leave room for web browsing etc.
Small and capital 'B's do matter. That will leave enough bandwidth for web browsing and e-mails. Examples of reasonable settings can be found here: Good settings.
After setting the max. That will sniff your internet connection speed and other usage and will manage the bandwidth that Vuze uses. The basic idea is to prevent Vuze from choking your upload bandwidth with too much traffic, but still try to upload as much as possible. You can set it to be active for downloading and seeding and then select either "Classic" or "beta" mode.
I personally prefer the autospeed "Classic" mode, as it can be tinkered to more detail. If you use Auto-speed classic, please remember to also set the max upload speed in its settings. The "choking ping time" is the most important tinkering parameter there. It tells the autospeed, how well you want the connection to respond. You might try to limit "Max. Note: one additional possible reason is the built-in security limit for "half-open" connections built-in Windows TCPIP.
The effect of the limitation can be mitigated by lowering the pace with which Vuze tries to open new connection in boot-up phase. Set the option "Max simultaneous outbound connection attempts" to 10 or less in Vuze's Advanced Network Settings.
SYS drivers, which remove the limits, but you use the patches at your own risk. Please note, that many useful options discussed here are not shown in the "Beginner" mode. You have to first set your user proficiency to "Intermediate" or Advanced" in Mode page of Options. Installation of at least one component failed in your config directory there will be an "update. The newest update is at the bottom of the file, starting with the line "Update Starts:".
The typical reason for a failure is that you do not have rights to write to folders required for the update. Note: If the log is of no help to you, you can always send a debug.
Be patient. Be prepared to answer these questions:. Jump to: navigation , search. Quick outline [ edit ] To fix a NAT issue, you have to consider multiple factors that can cause it. Note: The exact wording is different for each router, thus it might be called port forwarding, opening pinholes through the firewall, NAT rules, virtual server or something else.
Sadly some routers that claim to support UPnP don't interoperate with Vuze correctly, if that's the case have a look at point a. Understand what a NAT problem is [ edit ] Basically, a N etwork A ddress T ranslation problem is caused by a router not being able to do what it's supposed to; it is not correctly re-directing data it has received from the outside world to a computer that is connected to it the one running Vuze in this case.
Routers are located at gateways, the places where two or more networks connect. This is a unique string of numbers that identifies a computer or server on the Internet. These numbers are normally shown in groups separated by periods example: Public IP Address: An address that is given to you by your service provider when you connect to them.
The majority of users have a dynamic public IP address this can change every time a connection is established. The world will never see this address and can be made static this will never change once set up correctly. Used for assigning dynamic IP addresses to devices on a network. With dynamic addressing, a device can have a different IP address every time it connects to the network. Example: LinkSys routers almost all default with a starting IP address of This is extremely useful when securing a wireless network.
When available, this method can be used to create a static IP address for port forwarding purposes. A technological stab at attempting to make networking devices a simple task. This has been met by mixed reviews and levels of effectiveness by manufacturers and consumers. Your network hardware and Operating System may or may not properly employ this technology. Port Forwarding : The act of forwarding a network port from one machine to another.
Port Triggering : This allows computers behind a NAT-enabled router access to a special server or use a special application on the Internet using a specified port number. While similar to port forwarding, it is not recommended for usage with bittorrents due to the timing discrepencies involved with a port constantly being told to open with so many connections being generated.
It has more functions for gaming servers. Since a DMZ'd computer will be open to allow public access to services, it is considered extremely insecure and dangerous. Fix your NAT problem [ edit ] So you really have a NAT problem and never get green smilies and you are not using one of those Internet service providers that do not like file sharing?
Please Note: If you are using file sharing where you have no access to the router corporate or campus network, public WLAN from a cyber-cafe or a neighbor, or a housing development where everyone shares the connection , you must contact the network administrator. If you know you own a router, continue reading this page in its intended order. If the Default Gateway starts with Apple Mac 8.
Look for the line Router address. In the pull-down Show: select the network interface in use. Leopard From list on the left select your connection Ethernet, AirPort, etc. The "Router" line will have an IP address listed if you are connected through a router. Open a Terminal window, type the command ipconfig getoption en0 router where en0 is the name of the interface in use If you are positive you do not own a router or a broadband modem with NAT features, please skip down to the Software Firewall section.
Avoid Anything from is fine Create a static IP address for the computer that is running Vuze. Log into your router's configuration table. This is normally done by typing the router's Gateway Address into your browser's URL edit box and pressing the Enter key. If you don't know the information, consult your owner's manual or ISP if it originated from them. Note: some devices require utilizing Telnet for access and forwarding; the steps will be left out here due to their uniqueness.
Again, refer to the owner's manual for the correct procedure. Here is a static IP guide for individual Operating Systems. Once on the latest beta Vuze should automatically disable the internal browser and hopefully run successfully. If not please try manually disabling the browser by creating some Configuration Presets. You will need to enter the following into the presets file:. The new Chat feature plays a sound when a new message is received and you don't have that chat window open.
Unfortunately the ability to switch back to the old-style menu was broken in 5. Unfortunately there are major issues with GTK3 and Vuze at the moment the sidebar doesn't draw correctly, SWT Group items don't render, the 'open-torrent-dialog' is a mess.
So for the moment at least we force GTK2 via a new directive in the startup script:. This has resolved problems for some users but there are outstanding problems with CentOS 6. After updating some users are finding some of their torrents report 'Network not enabled' against the torrents' tracker status. This is for public trackers http s or udp ones. Note that since the networks can also be selected in the 'torrent options' dialog when adding the torrent. This will NOT fix existing torrents though as they remember their enabled networks in force when added or later changed.
This is caused by an error in the code that prompts the user for the location to save the torrent file in. It only happens when no default save location for torrents has been configured by default this is configured to be a folder called 'torrents' in your Vuze configuration folder , so an explicit configuration change by the user is required to trigger this. Fix is in 5. This is most often caused by a mismatch between the type of Vuze installation you have and the type of your Java install.
Both Vuze and Java come in two types, bit and bit. For things to work the two must agree - bit Vuze needs a bit Java and bit Vuze needs a bit Java. If you can't figure things out then follow the instructions to remove all versions of Vuze and Java and then re-install Vuze. By default Vuze uses TCP port to communicate with itself - once Vuze is running any other attempts to start Vuze e.
So when Hola's service is running it grabs control of the port. This confuses Vuze into thinking it is already running and prevents startup. You can fix this by uninstalling Hola or by telling Vuze to use a different port - see Command Line Options for an example of how to do this by editing the Azureus.
If another application e. Hola, see above has taken control of the port that Vuze uses for internal communications then this can result in multiple copies of Vuze starting. To fix this issue either locate the application responsible 'Resource Monitor' is a good tool for this or change the port that Vuze uses again, see above for the Hola fix. With Vuze and Ubuntu
