Goofs Most of the action seems to take place in New York, the home of the United Nations and also based in views of the car license plates. But whenever a newspaper is flashed on the screen, it is always based in either Los Angeles or San Francisco. Further, all satellite launches in the s were from Cape Canaveral in Florida. Quotes Dr.
Connections Edited into Night of the Blood Beast User reviews 34 Review. Top review. Entertaining low budget melodrama. Years ago, I remember seeing this movie on a local syndicated TV station. I had completely forgotten about it until I came across a website writing a review about the movie. I tried to find the video but came up empty. After searching for quite awhile, I eventually found a copy. What I can't figure out is that "War of the Satellites" was a project of Roger Corman, a somewhat well known producer and director of low budget sci fi horror films of the 50's and 60's.
This science fiction thriller which probably took 2 weeks to make, has a remarkably effective storyline combined with so-so special effects for that time period.
This movie is hard to find and if you do happen to locate it, I would suggest getting it because it's not that bad of a rotten tomato. Details Edit. Release date May 18, United States. United States. Planet der toten Seelen. Box office Edit. Technical specs Edit. N come together to find out why their satellites are being destroyed by an unknown source. They're warned by an alien race that humanity is still in its infancy and aren't allowed to progress to the stars.
This leads to an internal debate between the members as to whether they should carry on an expensive program that's yielding zero results; whilst potentially facing the wrath of a more advance species. Or, do what humans do best and give them the middle finger and do whatever the hell we want. Roger Corman directed 13 movies between and , so obviously they can't all be winners. This creature-less science fiction story is sadly one of the lamer ones, but it only runs 65 minutes and features Dick Miller in a big role, so it's not a complete waste of time.
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth. Low budget 50's sci-fi flick playing off Sputnik fervor, with a rare leading performance from longtime character actor Dick Miller. There's really no "war" but aliens trying to keep humans from going into space. Miller is a super cool hipster scientist who delivers an impassioned speech to the UN that rivals Captain Kirk in its earnestness about space travel and discovery.
There's a solid supporting cast too with Susan Cabot as the female lead; Richard Devon as the lead scientist who is cloned by aliens to disrupt the project ; and Robert Shayne Inspector Henderson from Superman as the American ambassador.
As these cheaper films go, this one looks pretty good. However, the effects work leaves a lot to be desired. Seems humans aren't very popular in space but that's not going to stop us! There's a freakin' frontier out there. Loved the scenes in the UN. The american standing up and declaring he was speaking for everyone - hello The astronaut guy going off US script and declaring his own agenda - it worked - unlimited funds for the satellite project and he still got to keep his job.
Loved Sybil - she got to do complex calculations when she wasn't answering the phone and typewriting. And loved how the alien eventually went all I'm in lurve with a human Jekyll and pass me the evil eyeliner Hyde. Dick Miller gives an okay performance in his role as the astronomer Dave Boyer, while Susan Cabot is alright in her part as the researcher Sybil Carrington and Richard Devon is reasonable as Dr. Van Ponder.
Howard Lazar and Jason ibn Akad and it….
